FIRST CHANCE TO VIEW NEW CORN EXCHANGE SHOPS
Independent shopkeepers, investors and local people wanting to view the former Corn Exchange Pub in Crickhowell High Street will get their first look round the new retail spaces this Saturday (July 8th).
The team converting The Corn Exchange into shops and flats say they have had a lot of enthusiasm from potential retail tenants, but many of them want to see the spaces before they apply. So Corn Exchange Crickhowell Ltd (CECLtd) are opening their doors from 11am – 3pm on Saturday for anyone who is interested to view the shell of the units.
CECltd Managing Director, Dean Christy, said: “We have had a fantastic response from independent traders and there is plenty of interest. But they want to see the spaces they would trade from and we understand that. We have also had a lot of interest from existing shareholders who want to see how their investment is being used and potential investors who would like to have a look before investing. The shops are not completed yet, but all the units now have floors, walls and ceilings so it is easy to get a sense of scale.”
CECLtd say the flats are not yet available for viewing, but shareholders and people interested in getting involved in the project are welcome to come along to see the retail spaces.
CECLtd recently said that 15% of the available shares have not yet been taken up. Finance Director, Peter Roberts, said: ”We are closing the funding gap, but we still need more money to complete the task. Most of our shareholders are small investors who wanted to stop The Corn Exchange being turned into a national chain supermarket. We have done that but now we need more people to finish the job and make sure the building can be filled with homes and great small businesses”.
The team say they are on track to finish the conversion by the end of October – just in time for the retail tenants to take advantage of the Christmas trading period.
